Pu’er Green Forum on Touirsm & Ecology is gandly held in Yunnan

On September 18th, 2017, initiated by China Chamber ofTourism, hosted by CCT and the Puer National Green Economy Pilot and Demonstration Area, Yunnan Mekong Group, and supported by United Nations World Tourism Organization, World Travel and Tourism Council, World Tourism Economic Forum and Puer City Government, Puer Green Forum on Tourism & Ecology was grandly held in the Lecture Hall of New Century Lesser Panda Manor in Yunnan Puer City. The forum sought to demonstrate the Puer National Forest Park where flora and fauna, environment and humans are harmoniously co-existing under the sustainable development idea and management, an a way to integrate the undergoing green development policy of Puer City into International Year of Sustainabale Tourism for Development established by UNWTO in 2017, into Tourism Economy Circle along the South Silk Road,  and the promote Puer Mode and Puer Experience in Tourism and Green & Sustainable Development to the whole world.

Presenting at our forum were Song Beibin, Former CPC Deputy General Secretary of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; Carlos Vogeler, Executive Director for Member Relations at the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Regional Director for the Americas at UNWTO; Xu Jing, Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific UNWTO, and UNWTOs Director Executive Secretary of the General Assembly and the Executive Council; Helen Marano, Vice President of WTTC; I Gede Ardika, former Indonesian Minister of Culture and Tourism; Louis D'Amore, Founder and Chairman of International Institute for Peace through Tourism; Christopher Imbsen, Deputy Director of European Commission; Wang Ping, Chairman & Wang Mingang, Executive Chairman of China Chamber of Tourism in All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; Liu Ting, Chairwoman of China Womens Chamber of Commerce; Vice Chairpersons Hao Xukuan, Ji Xiaodong and Chen Shiyou, Vice Standing Secretary General Wu Guoliang, Standing Director Chen Jie, China Chamber of Tourism in All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; Li Zhaorong, Secretary General of China Womens Chamber of Commerce; Other representatives from various chamber of commerce; Wei Xing, CPC Party General Secretary for Puer City; Bai Wenbin, Chairman of Puer Peoples Political Consultative Conference; Wei Yihong, Head of Puer United Front Work Department; Li Zhongmin, General Secretary of Puer Party Committee; officials from Puer Tourism Development Office and Puer Foreign Affairs Office; Comrades from 9 Puer local counties and 1 district and guests and speakers from all over the world.

Peter WONG Man Kong, Executive Chairman of CCTmoderated the forum. In his address, he introduced the purpose and meaning to initiate this forum on green development, and delivered his hope to have all representatives to feel the green ecology of Puer City who upholds the idea that human and nature are united as one and co-existing harmoniously.

Wei Yihong, StandingMember of Puer CPC Party Committee, Head of United Front Works Deparment made address on behalf of the Puer Government. She expressed that Tourism has literally become the mainstay industry for Puer City. Puer shall dedicated all efforts to building new tourism hotspots and highlights in Yunnan and endeavor to write a glorious new chapter for South Silk Road and the Ancient Tea Route.

Louis D'Amore, Founder and Chairman of International Institute for Peace through Tourism in his speech introduced the general information for World Peace Park initiated by his organization. He noted that this forum played a significant role in promoting Tourism Industry to be the No.1 Peace Industry for development, and hoped to get connected with China Chamber of Tourism in All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce to build world peaceful culture.

Scholars from all over the world revolved around topics of Biodiversity and Green & Sustainable Development, New Engine and New Hotspots for Region Cooperation on Tourism Economy in South Silk Road Region to heat discussions and offered positive comments to Green Development Ideas of Puer City, as well as many sensible advices to both Puer and Chinas Tourism Development.

During the forum, Wei Xing, the CPC Party General Secretary for Puer City together with leading teams of Puer Government had dialogues and talks with Chambers and International delegates, whereby consensus on future green development of Puer was reached for better guide its development and support the growth of Puer Tourism and Health Industry. Under the invitation of Weixing, Mr. Xu Jing and Mr. Wang Mingang were specially invited as consultants for Puer Tourism Development. And the held the ceremony for presenting letters of appointment at the forum.

As the most important outcome, considering that fast growing human society caused eco-deterioration and biodiversity crisis, Wang Ping, the Chairman of Chairman of China Chamber of Tourism drafted Green and PeaceProposal for the Preservation ofBiodiversity on earth and read it in person at the forum to call for all Tourism Workers to protect the lives of the Earth, value the biodiversity, and try hard to protect and recover the biodiversity as their career virtue and responsibility. Upon the touching read, all guests signed on Initiative solemnly. Forum was later closed as the childrens chorus Tomorrow Will Be Better.

During the forum, the conferment ceremony of Puer Sun River World Peace Park was held at the Tourists Centre at Xiniuping Scenic Spot of Puer Sun River National Park. Puer Sun River National Park became the Chinas first World Peace Park by IIPT for its eminent contribution in protecting virgin forest, wild animals, minority ethnic cultures and others.

During the forum, guests visited Niuping Scenic Spot of Puer Sun River National Forest Park and Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Valley, both under Mekong Group. Amid the sea of flowers and forests, guests were accompanied by elks, lesser pandas, elephants, loris, white rhinoceros and other rare species to have experienced the harmony and beauty of nature ecology and biodiversity.
